News and Info
COSBOA, the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia, has recently launched a six month national Go Local First campaign to encourage consumers to buy from local businesses, as part of Australia’s economic recovery plan. The campaign has been well researched and tested with representative focus groups and so they are confident the messages COSBOA has developed will achieve real change. You should start to see and hear television and radio advertisements promoting Go Local First and there will also be a strong social media campaign focus.
This national campaign needs to work alongside strong local campaigns to ensure the reach small business needs. For this reason COSBOA is partnering with local government, who have a keen interest in ensuring local business survives the CoVid pandemic, as well as with local MPs, both state and federal. We have also been in touch with already up and running local campaigns to encourage cross promotion, the sharing of campaign ideas and mutual reinforcement.
The role of local business chambers such as ours is critical in this. Our chamber could reach out to our local council, or MP, to discuss ways of promoting local small businesses together, or we may wish to independently run our own campaign.
If you are interested in being part of this campaign, please come along to our August meeting and we can discuss. Local organisations and leaders can truly make this happen and COSBOA is with us to support and promote your work.
